No sóc un seguidor del futbol. Fins i tot si algú m’ho pregunta, la resposta és que no m’agrada. Però el Barça és una altra cosa. Al bloc Indígenes he trobat un comentari que enllaça a un article a la revista Time, sobre algú que sembla que en sàpiga el perquè:
“Barça represents a liberal nationalist spirit that makes for a powerful reprimand to both ethnic chauvinism and facile criticisms of the nation-state. Barça is the ultimate symbol of the Catalan people — one of their most glorious achievements, a monument to their language, history and struggle. But, at the same, it is a bastion of pluralism. Its anthem explicitly welcomes immigrants, and over time, it has served as a powerful instrument for assimilating newcomers into Catalan society.”
Que algú de fora parli amb aquest coneixement del Barça i del seu lligam amb Catalunya és quasi sorprenent, després de tot el que ha caigut amb l’Estatut, on no se li ha vist el pèl a cap intel·lectual espanyol (potser no n’hi ha...). Si algú fa un homenatge a Catalonia, sembla que no vindrá mai d’Espanya.
